According to the police report, the officer who stopped the Escalade pulled along the passenger side and smelled "the strong odor of marijuana" inside.
The cop wrote that he noticed immediately the passenger was Paris Hilton, and observed her trying to roll up the window as a massive crowd gathered.
Before Paris Hilton's arrest, she said she was "extremely embarrassed" and asked the officer if she could go to the bathroom at the nearby Wynn Hotel.
At the hotel, Paris told the cop she needed lip balm so he handed Paris her purse and "As she began to open it, I saw a small bindle of what I believed to be cocaine in a clear baggie begin to fall from the purse and into my hand."
The report also says that inside the purse was a "tablet of Albuterol" - a medication used to control wheezing - and Zig Zag wrappers, often used for rolling joints. Paris admitted the Albuterol was hers. That cocaine in there, though?
Paris claimed the purse was not hers and that she had borrowed it from a friend. The cop questioned Paris about the cocaine and apparently, Paris gave an odd answer: "She said she had not seen it, but now thought it was gum."
Later, Paris changed her story with friends, saying it is her purse but had been in the possession of a friend. Paris claimed several cosmetic items in the purse were not hers, but she copped to $1,300 cash and some credit cards.
Paris says the cocaine was "probably her girlfriend's." Suuuure.
Hilton says one of her friends borrowed the purse and "probably" put cocaine inside. Paris says she got the bag back but never checked its contents.
Slightly different from the "It's-not-my-purse" defense used in previous arrests, but similar. "I had no idea the cocaine was there," she tells friends.
"I swear on my life."
We'll see if her "friend" backs up this story. Bribes go a long way ...
