70s style

Cu piese de baza - jeansi evazati+tricou alb, Nicole a creat un ansamblu inspirat din anii '70. Lookul este completat si de parul impletit si ochelarii oversize.

a little birdy told me to look out for byrdie..

Byrdie Bell (23) is an actress living in New York, as one might see from her sense of style. At first glance, I felt I had seen her look before; high-waisted skirts teamed with a clutch and expensive high-heels etc.

But when I looked a second time around, I knew I was slightly wrong the first time; I haven't seen it all before. Byrdie Bell does something to her outfits which makes them look very unique and stylish at the same time without looking too over-done, too mix & match or too "fake". It looks real, a mix between the sweet, raw and eccentric, and it's "her style".

Many young girls today just follow the trends and just wear what the hottest celebrities are wearing at the moment. It's okay to "borrow" ideas from celebrities and have style icons, of course !! But we should also listen more to ourselves and find out what we want to express, how we want to be seen and basically what our own personal style is..just like Byrdie has done.

American Idol's Goodbye to Ramiele Malubay

Ramiele Malubay was eliminated from American Idol Season 7 yesterday (April 2, 2008). Too bad.. she's one of the reasons why I am watching the show. Aside from being a Filipina, I like her for having a "big" voice despite of being small. I guess, I will no longer see her high-heeled shoes until this season ends.

Here are some of her top photos during her American Idol performances:

Dita Von Teese In Metallic Silver Body Paint

Several photos of Dita Von Teese in Metallic Silver body paint spread over the internet. The purpose of the photo shoot is not yet revealed but for sure it stirs up some curiosity.

In my own opinion, the photos are catchy. Here are some of it:

wardrobe_remix needs you!

I recently signed up to the wonderful world of wardrobe remix, well I couldn't leave Thom Wong by himself now could I? I wanted to accompany this post with a Lord Kitchener inspired poster but alas I am writing this feeling poorly and in an Internet cafe so hopefully you can forgive my lack of creativity.

There is a lack of men within the group so I urge you to start sending in your pics. If you are worried about the comments don't be, everyone is so nice...in fact they might be a little too nice, lulling me into a false sense of security and then bam, they become so bitchy I run away from my laptop one day in tears, never to venture online again. If you aren't aware of wardrobe remix - briefly it is an online 'DIY fashion community' created by Tricia in 2005, if you are aware of it, why aren't you on it?

I personally like trawling the pool of images (there are currently over 34,000) because I'm a aesthete and enjoy the variety on there, a nice mix of handmade/modified, vintage buys, high street and designer...I just wish that there were more men on there and then it would be become a great resource for inspiration for the blog. The community is so much more interesting than the exactitudes project (an ongoing exploration of the so called striking dress codes of various social groups, and the way clothing and fashion can be used to both fit into and stand-out from the crowd) which I recently saw at Selfridges but I will soon be amassing a favourites portfolio containing a similar volume of images!

Channeling his inner 1950's dad/1960's French assassin Mr Wong above is an inspiration. I seriously need to smarten up my act and most importantly invest in a few hats...I do not possess a single smart hat and this is a fact I will change very soon. In fact I think I've found the perfect one at Hurwendeki but decided against buying it just yet because I now have a clothes budget in place and I'm actually sticking to it pretty well...Anyway, enough of my consumer habit...as I said, this is a serious post, I want to see more guys sign up to wardrobe remix, so start taking lots of pics. I have to admit that I'm not the most regular of contributors to the w_r community because...well I can be a little lazy and uninspired but I am beginning to get the desire to attack my wardrobe and drawers with gusto and start taking more photos to post and I urge you to do the same.

A Few Spring Picks

Who else has shopping fever? Here are a few of the spring purchases I'm considering/making

Calling all small-torsoed ladies! This French picnic skirt by Etsy seller ktjean, $66, is perfect for you. A fantastic price for a unique, gorgeous custom-made skirt. Maybe if I forgo dinner for a few weeks or have a rib removed, I can wear this to a spring bridal shower.

I'd wear it with these Report "Hali" flowered wedges, $73. So sweet.

This one's showing up in a bunch of magazines, so better order now. I know I am: Isaac Mizrahi for Target 4-Poster bag in yellow, $29.99. Apparently yellow is THE color for spring.

Angie & Lola satchel in bone, $34.99. I don't even care that this is PVC, it just looks so cool.

One of the categories I want to stock up on for spring on is little jackets. I picked up a couple recently at Forever 21. Observe:

Polkadot, $24. This may have been a mistake. Thoughts? Should I take advantage of Forevs' liberal return policy?

Mustard, $29.80, pronounced "very Marc Jacobs" by a shopping companion.

I also got these floral clip-on earrings, $4.80, also available in white, because regular earrings hurt my ears. I'm thinking of purchasing a huge lot of clip-on earrings off of eBay as a result. But will they be too Grandma-like? Hmmm....
